SCANDANAVIAN HANDPAINTED WEDDING TRUNK
This Gustavian trunk probably dates to the early 1800s. It is made of pine and is handpainted. It still has the original interior lock mechanism but does not have the key. Typical to these trunks, there is a small box inside on the left side. They would normally have the names of the bride and groom painted on the front over each floral pattern with the year of the marriage in the middle. This piece was never personalized. It has normal wear for its age and has lots of character. It measures 45.25"W, 24.5"D and is 22"H. the pine top has a wonderful patina and traces of past wormwood.
