ANTIQUE SWAN EMPIRE ROCKING CRADLE
This amazing late 1800s Empire style swan rocking cradle is in pristine condition. It dates from 1875-1900. Often the swan would hold a rod in its mouth to hold a mosquito net or shade net. They originally came from Carcassonne in SW France. Please be aware that it is no longer up to health and safety regulations and should only be used for baby doll display. They retail for as much as $4500 but typically retail for around $1700. This cradle has had 3 braces in the bottom replaced and had a custom made mattress made to fit the bed. It measures 47.5"L, 22.5"W and 64"H. The bassinet measures 12.5"deep. It was purchased from Franklin Antiques and was originally purchased in Paris. All 4 legs are outfitted with casters.
